Teacher Forum

LIFT Teacher Forum was established in 1999 to boost creativity in the classroom by getting teachers to consider their own creative processes and methodology. Opening up LIFT's performance spaces and extensive experience of theatre as a learning resource, the LIFT Teacher Forum programme took the form of a structured course of nine monthly sessions, individual tutorials and visits to LIFT venues and events.

Alongside providing teachers with practical skills and connections to the art world, LIFT Teacher Forum also offered an arena for reflection and experimentation with the possibilities of art as it relates to education. Completion of the course was also accredited by the Institute Of Learning, University Of London as part of the Advanced Diploma In Professional Studies.

Animarts

A joint project between LIFT Learning and The Guildhall School Of Music and Drama, Animarts was a 12 month survey which began in 2002 with the goal of analysing the importance of the arts in education. Using 'animateur' as an umbrella term to categorise all arts professionals working in education -from visual artists through to musicians and dance instructors - Animarts developed relationships between artists and teachers through a series of group sessions and practice-based enquiries.

The Animarts findings were summarised in the 2003 report available to download from the www.animarts.org.uk website.

TAP - Teacher Artist Partnership

Based upon an action research project commissioned by LIFT, GSMD and Animarts in 2002, the Teacher Artist Partnership developed the structure for a new arts curriculum initiative which was presented in 2005. An integral part of LIFT Learning, the two year scheme produced by LIFT and seven other companies was designed by 30 teachers and 30 artists from across London to increase the number of artistic practitioners with the necessary skills to work in schools.

Completion of the course was also accredited by the Institute Of Learning, University Of London as part of the Advanced Diploma In Professional Studies.
